Researcher(s) / Research Associate(s) / Research Assistant(s) (Robotics/Mechanical)

The Center is seeking highly enthusiastic, self-motivated, dynamic, and academically excellent candidates to fill several Researcher / Research Associate / Research Assistant positions in Robotics/Mechanical.

We provide plenty of collaborative spaces for big ideas. Entrepreneurial opportunities and support will be given to help transform research ideas into start-ups. You will be able to:

(i) Work with leading industry partners and stakeholders
(ii) Engage in a wide range of cross-disciplinary projects
(iii) Meet world-class leading experts and mentors
(iv) Explore opportunities to commercialize technology into working products and processes

Currently, the Center is conducting projects in but not limited to the following directions:
•    Robotics SLAM
•    Robotics Motion Control
•    Robotics Decision Planning
•    Machine Learning, Image Processing, Computer Vision
•    Multi Sensor Fusion (Visual, Lidar, IMU, etc.)
•    Robotics Mechanical Structure Design
•    Embedded System

Appointees are expected to conduct and manage the entire early-stage opportunities identification, research development and proof-of-concept process, including but not limited to:
•    Problem definition; market research; feasibility study; business proposal; 
•    Team development; system specification; deployment of key modules; proof-of-concept
•    Iteration; engineering verification test; design verification test; design and deployment



  1. A strong background in Mechanical Engineering or other related disciplines, having completed or is going to receive a 
    (i) Ph.D. degree for Researchers or Research Associates role; or 
    (ii) Master’s / Bachelor’s degree for Research Assistant role.

  2. Rich experience in developing reliable and good performance robotic systems; 

  3. Proficiency in SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD for mechanical or electrical designs; 

  4. Experience in locomotion robots will be advantageous;

  5. Very strong problem definition and solving skills;

  6. Very good communication skills of spoken and written English, and Cantonese / Mandarin;

  7. Self-motivated, have entrepreneurial spirit, good responsibility and strong problem-solving skills, and is able to work independently and collaboratively.

Salary is highly competitive of international standards and will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits including annual leave, medical and dental benefits will be provided. 
The initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract, and is renewable subject to performance, mutual agreement, and funding availability.
