Spatial Intelligence Drives Quality and Efficiency in Smart Construction

This year's Changsha Construction Expo, themed "Empowering Smart Construction with Technology · Leading a Better Life Through Innovation," covered an exhibition area of 45,000 square metres and brought together nearly a thousand enterprises across the entire industry chain—making it the largest annual benchmark event in the central region's construction sector.

During their tour of the exhibition, Ni Hong, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Minister of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, and his delegation stopped by the SKYLAND booth to learn about the MetaCam Air 2 handheld LiDAR scanner. The SKYLAND team demonstrated the device's real-time 3D point-cloud capture capabilities to Minister Ni and reported on its practical applications in smart construction scenarios, including construction quality control and digitalisation of existing buildings.

As a representative enterprise in the field of spatial intelligence infrastructure, SKYLAND showcased the core application value of its MetaCam product series in smart construction: replacing traditional point-by-point measurement workflows with an efficient "scan-as-you-walk" approach. This enables construction sites to rapidly capture complete 3D spatial data, providing a reliable data foundation for progress tracking, quality acceptance, and as-built archiving.

Professional visitors from construction firms, design institutes, and engineering consultancies gathered at the booth to experience the technology firsthand, engaging in extensive discussions on topics such as point-cloud and BIM model integration, as well as digital as-built delivery.

Spatial Intelligence Empowers Embodied Intelligence and Robotics

SSA 2026, themed "Connect the physical · Empower the digital," brought together more than 300 enterprises and institutions from over 30 countries and regions, focusing on cutting-edge fields including robotics, intelligent sensing, and embodied intelligence.

SKYLAND exhibited multiple products, including the MetaCam Air 2 handheld scanner and SLAM LiDAR, presenting a complete spatial intelligence product matrix—from robotic perception modules to handheld terminals. Among them, the upcoming LiDAR is specifically designed for high-precision positioning, mapping, measurement, and obstacle avoidance scenarios. It delivers 3D spatial perception capabilities for robot carriers of various form factors while offering convenient integration.

Professional visitors from robotics companies, automation system integrators, and research institutions showed strong interest in the platform-agnostic deployment capabilities, engaging in in-depth technical discussions on integration solutions for perception modules and multi-sensor fusion accuracy.

Expanding the Global Industry Ecosystem

From construction engineering to embodied intelligence, the two exhibitions differed in product positioning and audience composition—yet both pointed to the same core proposition: high-precision, high-efficiency 3D spatial perception is becoming the foundational infrastructure for digital industrial transformation. To date, MetaCam series products have established a global partner network of over 5,000 organisations, with applications spanning construction, industrial inspection, robotic perception, digital twins, and more.

In the second half of 2026, SKYLAND will also appear at international events such as INTERGEO in Germany, continuing to expand its global industry ecosystem and market presence.
