2 Golds and 3 Silvers: HKCRC Shines Again at the International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva
Mar 16
March 11–15, 2026 – After a two-year hiatus, the Hong Kong Center for Construction Robotics (HKCRC) returned to the stage of the International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva, joining forces with the HKUST delegation and other partners to showcase five cutting-edge technological innovations, demonstrating Hong Kong's scientific and creative strength in the field of intelligent construction.
At the just-announced results of the 51st International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva, HKCRC secured an impressive record of 2 Gold Medals and 3 Silver Medals. This honor is not only a recognition of HKCRC's research excellence but also a testament to Hong Kong's innovation capabilities. From prototypes in the laboratory to real-world deployment on construction sites, from the initial conceptualization to the brilliance on the international stage — every step embodies the team's unwavering commitment and pursuit of "transforming the construction industry through technology."
The following are the products exhibited by HKCRC and the awards received at this year's Invention Exhibition.
AI Water Tank Cleaning Robot – Gold Award
Developed in collaboration with EMSD, ASD, HD, and WSD, the AI-enabled Smart Water Tank Cleaning Robot is equipped with ultrasonic SLAM and an AI vision system. It can autonomously navigate inside water tanks, perform cleaning operations, and generate traceable contamination reports. By replacing manual entry into confined spaces for tank cleaning, this robot not only ensures water safety but also safeguards the health and well-being of workers.

Modular Multi-Purpose High-Altitude Work Robot Robot – Gold Award
One of the inventors of this robot is a Master's student from the joint training program between HKCRC and The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST). The robot can be applied to a variety of high-altitude operations, including drilling, installation, spraying, and inspection. By integrating modular design with precision control technology, it enables safe and efficient high-altitude work.

Layra AI – Silver Award
Developed in-house by the HKCRC Layra Team, Layra AI combines a large language model with a rule optimization engine to deliver customized, regulation-compliant interior designs in seconds. It supports flexible editing and generates BOMs instantly, streamlining the journey from concept to construction—making your vision a reality.

STRUCTSENSE 3D - Silver Award
The product developed by HKCRC spin-off Jiandi Technology – is an AI-powered smart camera that combines edge computing with stereoscopic vision. It delivers 4K high-accuracy depth maps in a single capture, supporting instant measurement, flaw detection, and environmental analysis. Whether assessing wall deterioration or verifying rebar spacing, it converts visual data into actionable intelligence in seconds – building the visual backbone for tomorrow's construction robotics.

AI Tower Crane System- Silver Award
Developed by HKCRC spin-off Keyue Technology in partnership with the Hong Kong Housing Authority, this AI-powered tower crane system combines remote operation, AI anti-sway, intelligent path planning, and real-time safety monitoring. Costing only 10% of a crane's annual rental fee, it boosts lifting productivity by 30% while cutting safety accidents by 50%. Already in use at numerous Hong Kong sites, it sets a new standard for smart construction site management.

The Geneva International Exhibition of Inventions – one of the world's top three invention fairs with over 50 years of history – is a key global platform for breakthrough innovations. This year, it features more than 1,000 inventions from nearly 35 countries.
HKCRC remains committed to driving industry transformation through innovation, building a construction sector that is smarter, safer, and more efficient.
